What's happening at camp?

Klahican Lodge 2025 Banquet

In December 2025, Klahican Lodge held its annual Lodge Banquet where lots and lots of families and friends gathered to have a great time.  The event was at Camp Bowers.  The speaker for the evening was the Scout Executive Kevin O'Shea.  Kevin spoke about all of the good people and good things happening at camp in his first 270 days on the job.  Additionally, he officially rolled out the new Council Website:  capefearscouting.org.  Check it out!  Lots of door prizes were given out as well.  If you missed it, you sure did miss a good one.  The meal of the evening was all homemade and included  BBQ, Potato Salad, Mac&Cheese, Baked Beans, Banana Pudding, and cake which was served by the best cook crew around, led by Chris Long.

The lodge announced some award winners as well.

Cheerful Servant Awards of the year went to:  Mayci Zimmerle from Three Fires Chapter, Savannah White from Kittihican Chapter, Braxton Matthews from Sipo Chapter, and Kyron Tunstall from Japeechen Chapter.

The Old Goat Award went to good ole Greg Kern (seems fitting).

The Elangomat of the Year Award went to Susannah McDobbens

The AIA Award went to Ben Anderson

The Dirtiest Sash Award went to Sidney Smith.

The Youth Cook Crew Award went to Jackson Kern.

Additionally, the Klahican Lodge Founders Award went to Jennifer Smith.

Fall Fellowship 2025

Fall Fellowship 2025 was no joke.  Scouts young and old, worked together to fix some benches in the OA arena, added more benches to that same OA arena, cut down dead trees and hauled off the wood, prettied up some of the fencing at the main campfire arena, blew off leaves and sticks from building roofs, cleaned bathrooms at Bowers and McNeill, installed new shower curtains at McNeill for Cub campers, painted signs in the OA arena, pulled weeds from the volleyball court, trimmed trees and bushes at the camp memorial site and in the main parking lot, mowed areas around camp, and oh how can we not forget about power washing buildings.  Whew, good thing there was good food to eat from the OA's #1 rated cook crew.  On top of all that, the weather was perfect and lots of friendships were made.
